MSCA Individual Fellowships

MSCA Individual Fellowships fund post-doctoral researchers of any discipline to undertake a research project of their choice. International mobility is essential and fellowships include personal and career development objectives. Applications must therefore be written jointly between the applicant, the prospective supervisor and the host Oxford Department/Faculty.

There are two types of Individual Fellowship:

European Fellowships

  • Open to researchers moving within Europe, as well as those coming to Europe from other parts of the world
  • Last for one to two years
  • Can restart a research career after a break, such as parental leave.
  • Can help researchers return to a research career in Europe after a period working outside Europe

Global Fellowships

  • Open to researchers based in Europe
  • Fund a period spent in an organisation outside Europe plus a one year mandatory return phase in Europe
  • Last between two and three years

Funding is through a series of fixed unit costs that cover the costs of employing the fellow and contribute to the expenses of the fellowship.
